I don't wear my pencil skirts very often and every time I do I wonder why I don't. Paired with a structured jacket a pencil skirt makes me feel very professional, "crisp", and lean and I tend to perform accordingly.

feeling bright...not blue!

Let start by saying that I LOVE LOVE these jeans!! They are literally like wearing pajamas, they're so soft! This outfit is so me and I felt so good wearing it! I love wearing clothes that are me, it really does make my day brighter! Go ahead, wear a "you" outfit today!

a maxi skirt in the Fall

I'm not much of a maxi skirt/dress wearer as I'm only 5'2" and curvy, but I couldn't resist a maxi skirt with bold stripes such as these. I kept the skirt long and wore it with platform sandals to give me a longer leg line.

When doing a maxi skirt or dress for Fall add a fitted, shorter jacket or cardigan to avoid looking bulky.

A knit dress and ankle boots was the perfect Fall outfit for shopping with and for clients last week. 

This has been and will continue to be one of my favorite kind of outfits. A knit dress is really like wearing pj's all day but without looking like you forgot to get dressed. And may I just add that it's not OK to go to Wal-Mart in your pj's. Really. Not. OK.

I've been wanting to do a denim on denim outfit for awhile now. I love the combination of differing shades of denim, the key to wearing denim on denim is to mix different shades and or weights of denim. Here I did 3 differing shades of denim with a neutral brown and pop of animal print.

it's officially Fall...

When I pulled out my dark green jeans and a sweater I felt like it was truly Fall. I think I'm ready for sweaters, leggings, and layers. 

I love wearing layers and really don't mind wearing a lot of them. If you tend to be claustrophobic or have hot flashes too many layers probably aren't for you. Just saying...

flawless face for family photos

Say hello to Amy... A year ago I styled their family photo shoot and shared tips, along with A. Kline Photography on styling your own family photos, which you can see here.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Amy (as always) and her family. I had also done her makeup for this photo shoot and have been meaning to share this with you. So here you go, tips on a flawless face for your family photo shoot.

I started with a Primer followed by Mineral Liquid Powder Foundation to even out her skin tone, Concealer under her eyes, and Illuminator wherever I wanted to add highlights. Finishing her face with a light dusting of Powder, Bronzing Powder to contour her facial features, and Blush to further contour and bring color to her beautiful face. Neutral shades of eyeshadows along with several coats of mascara gave her a classic look perfect for a family photo shoot. I finished her look with Lipstick in Radiant Rose. 

It is always more important to work on having a flawless face than trying to achieve the perfect smokey eye for family (or any) photos.

bright and full...

A bright anchor sweater and a full skirt sure does make my day. 

A full skirt is often a question for a lot of people...won't it just make me look bigger? Does it give me curves? How do I wear it? What do I wear with it?

First things first; is it you? If not, then ok. For instance you will never see Gail wearing a full skirt as it's just simply not her style. And that's ok. Not sure if it's your style? Try it on. Wear it higher (at your natural waistline), do a fitted top and tuck it in, with or without a belt. You just may be pleasantly surprised with the results...or hate it. Either way, at least you tried it, and that's always a good thing.

Say hello to Carol, who showed up at my house looking ridiculously cute with her 29 week little baby belly.

She so graciously posed for me so I could show you what a simple little outfit like this can do for you. It's what I call "one-stop" dressing; you pop a dress and some accessories on and off you go. Ok, I will be honest; she showed up in flip flops and we decided that was just too simple for the picture so on went a pair of my sandals. It's a heel height Carol would feel comfortable in while she's pregnant when not doing flip flops or flats.

If you are thinking; why in the world did I not look this cute when I was preggo, well, then you are thinking the same thing I am. Hmm...maybe I should have eaten less Ho Ho's and Twinkies....
