our trip through Central Park

A highlight of the trip was our tour through Central Park in a pedicab. 

So, I thought Central Park would be nice but I was not prepared for it's extravagant beauty and the emotions it evoked. Absolutely amazing and breathtaking.

girlfriends in NYC

Two of my girlfriends and I spent a few days in NYC last week celebrating our birthdays. And celebrate we did, mostly by shopping and eating our way through the city.

They so kindly agreed to pose for me for the Outfit of the Day. Thanks girls.

We had this beautiful patio and gardens at the complex we stayed at (thanks Jared and Elizabeth) but didn't get to enjoy it to much since we were always on the move.

Our day was bright and colorful just like our jeans.

 And somehow I couldn't keep my balance. Pathetic, I know (and I'm wearing flats).

It was a happy colored skinny jeans day indeed.

Say hello to Carol who is my friend, cousin, and office manager of my husband' business.

She showed up for work looking super cute in a fun color combination, sooo I whip out my camera and demand request some cute poses. :) Obviously the cute poses were not a problem! Btw, she always looks cute when she shows up for work, I am either in a hurry to leave or forget to ask her to pose. Show her some love and you might see her on here again!

Say hello to two of my clients, Cheryl and Heidi, who I had the pleasure of working with in NYC last week. We shopped, ate and drank our way through the city. Lucky for us Cheryl's hubby was along to carry packages. Luis, you know we love you!

Heidi, who recently moved from Seattle to NYC needed a wardrobe for a new city and lifestyle, that still compliments her personality and style.

Here is a simple outfit of legging pants, a tunic length button up (both from Aritzia) and Converse for running around the city.

Cheryl, who owns Crimson Design Group (along with her husband) in Columbus, OH needed a wardrobe that is professional yet fun, artsy and creative.

Here she is wearing a great fitting shirt-dress, belt and cheetah print shoes. A perfect outfit for work (and shopping).

I am wearing colored skinny jeans from Express, a floaty top from Forever 21 and dalmation print Sperry's. Yes, it was a perfect outfit for a whole day of shopping and running around the city.

It was the annual Girl's Night Out in Millersburg a few weeks ago. It was all things girly, everywhere. Marilyn was on staff at Rig & Co. giving complimentary mini manicures. Not only is she a great nail tech at Dexterity, I also get to have her as my sister!

Here is an outfit that is totally out of Carma's comfort zone as she had never done leggings with a shorter dress. Yet oddly enough all of this was in her closet. She bought these items because she liked them but then just had them hang out in her closet. No more! Does she look amazing or what!

Rhoda helped me realize everyone has a different style. She helped me to determine my ideal styles which then gave me the confidence to wear the styles I feel comfortable in, fit my personality, and work for my body type. Because she has put outfits together from my closet she has taught me how to think outside of my box. February Client Closet of the Month - day 6

Carma loved this dress but questioned whether it works for her. It's super flattering on her figure and looks great with a fitted jacket. It's a longer length than what she normally wears but with her fabulous legs (and the fact that she's always in heels) it looks awesome. I always say "if a trend doesn't work for you, wait for the next trend." This is a length trend Carma can do well.

We paired a leopard print sweater Carma has had in her closet for quite awhile and freshened it  up with a newer striped jacket and bright scarf. Layering new and "old" items from your closet gives fresh life to your wardrobe, therefore giving you have a lot more new outfits. Think outside your box.

There is nothing more springy than a white skirt. Both of these looks have a nautical feel to them without looking like you should be heading out on your sailboat. Carma rarely does flats but loved these bright boat shoes which give her white pencil skirt a very casual feel and is perfect for running errands and everything life throws her way in one day.

Carma's white pencil skirt is perfect with yellow, stripes and dashes of red and makes me want to pull my white skirt and striped jacket out of my closet. Carma, you look beautiful!

Doing a maxi skirt can seem like a challenge for most people. Carma, however looks great in it as it really balances out her body and flatters her figure. When doing a maxi skirt keep your tops fitted and structured  to help you achieve a long lean line to your body.

This outfit is a version of what Carma had considered her "uniform". I mixed it up for her by pairing several  stripes, a graphic tee, and more accessories than she normally wears. Flare jeans are super flattering on her frame. She doesn't do skinny jeans as we have to watch that her legs don't look too thin. What a problem to have, right! Carma, you look fabulous!

Carma's outfit is bright, fresh and makes me want to start pulling all my spring clothes. Plaid is not something Carma would usually be drawn toward, but told me she was inspired by Amy, my December Client Closet of the Month. And that my friends, is why I do what I do!

A super easy and comfy way to wear her plaid is with a slouchy sweater, jeans and a bright scarf. Carma attends lots of  basketball games and wanted outfits that would be appropriate and comfortable and not just a sweatshirt and jeans. This is it.

Button Up and Trousers - Express, Sweater - Gap, Necklace - Loft, Shoes - BCBG

This is a classic look but bright green stripes and a heavier necklace makes it feel very modern. Trouser jeans are a go-to pant. If you're questioning dress code for a certain event, this is your pant. If everyone is in jeans, so are you. If everyone is in trousers, so are you. You win!

This necklace is actually meant to be worn shorter. We simply added an extender (which can be purchased anywhere they have jewelry supplies, Walmart, Target, etc...) to make it the length we wanted it. 

Long Sleeve Tee and Jacket - Express, Skirt - Old Navy, Scarf - don't know, Shoes - BCBG, Necklace - Loft

Carma is wearing a simple knit skirt, which I have said a thousand times, is probably the easiest and most comfortable thing to wear. Horizontal stripes in a skirt are wonderful for balancing her figure. If you carry your weight in your lower half, keep the horizontal stripes on top. It's all about fit and visual details.

Say hello to Carma who has been a client for a long time. When asked about her goals for her wardrobe last week she relayed that she feels like she's been stuck in a rut and wearing a "uniform" for quite awhile. So for the next 2 1/2 hours I gave her 45 "new" outfits using her current wardrobe. In a rut no more! This week you will get to see 14 of these outfits.

Carma is a very busy wife and mother of 2 boys, who also owns her own business (Sommers Homestyle Noodles), where she works in the office, assists in production, and develops new pastas. Therefore she needs a wardrobe that can go from work to home to sports games and everything in between.

Carma asked me to give her some fun spring outfits, and we had a perfect sunny day for it. She recently purchased this bright green skirt but didn't know what to wear with it. Here we did 2 outfits that will be great for work and the rest of her lifestyle. She feels more comfortable in heels so you will see most of her outfits with heels as this is what she wears on a regular basis.
