Chunky Pearl Necklace...How to make your own

For those of you who have been asking how I made this necklace, here are your directions.

 I made this necklace for a client using her old pearls and gold chains.

I started with 3 old pearl necklaces (that I re-strung on elastic thread) and 2 gold chains.

Lay them out and center all peices.

Tie a knot in the center using all peices. 

Continue doing so on both sides of of your center knot...

...until most of your pearls have been used up. Don't get frustrated while knotting all pieces together. There was a few times I had to re-do it.

To "finish" the ends of your pearls; lace and knot the chain through the pearls until you like the final effect. Remember, it's not about having a "perfect" piece but rather a creative one.

Ta-Da! Your new necklace!

Miss Kylie rocks her fur vest

Lately all of her outfits have been in inspired by Victoria Justice and the girls from Shake It Up.

Long Sleeve Tee - her mom's, Sparkle Tank Top, Fur Vest, and Jeans - Justice, Boots - Payless.

It's great to watch Kylie's style evolve as she gets older. There is something to be said for letting your daughter pick her own clothes (within reason, and of course, age appropriate), because your style may not be her style. What makes you feel pretty and confident doesn't mean it will do the same for her. Trust me, I'm talking from experience. Giving your daughter clothing/style choices will create a more confident individual.

Llittle black dress gone casual

Dress - Victorias Secret, Denim Jacket - Thrited (Gap), Scarf - Express, Earrings - AE, Watch - Michael Kors, Tights - Hue (also available at Macy's and Dillards), Boots - Aldo, Lips - Teaberry.

This dress has been in my closet for at least 4 years. A simple black knit dress can be very boring on it's own. Layering and accessorizing it can make it feel new and fun. It's simply about looking at a piece of clothing as a "building block" instead of an outfit.

Perfect Saturday

Sequins for work

I love how sequins are no longer just for the holidays. I do wear jeans to work occasionally, and what better way to dress them up but with sequins. I suggest if/when you wear sequins to work you keep everything else toned down, including your makeup. You don't want to look like your ready for a night on the town. However, it would be easy to transition from work to going out by simply wearing a brighter lipstick or darkening you eye makeup.

I dug out my puffy vest

I've had this vest for a few years and don't think I wore it at all last winter. For me, sometimes it's simply about pairing the old with the new to love it again.

With flats, cuff jeans a bit higher.

Whether your rolling once (on left) or multiple times (on right), with heels, the closer to the shoe, the better.

With fitted ankle boots, keep the cuff right at the top of the boots.

With less fitted ankle boots, you can cuff or simply tuck your jeans in.
