6 days in Vegas

These are my 6 outfits I wore while working in Vegas last week.

If you have been following our blog you already know that I typically travel with a carry-on only when it comes to work. I have posted a few blog posts on travel with a carry on only which you can find here and here. I also enjoyed this travel post from Kendi Everyday.

Re-wearing my jacket and white jeans. It's how you pack with a carry-on and still have room to do a little shopping. Which we did have a few minutes for and I picked up these boots at Vince Camuto for $45. Yes, I was a bit excited as I had seen them earlier this season for about $120.

Last day of work, and travel home. We had a red-eye flight so I wanted to make sure I was wearing something super comfortable. I was in this outfit for over 24 hours and it was like wearing pj's.

travel outfits...

Here are the 5 outfits I wore last week to work in NYC.

When traveling for work I typically pack a carry-on only. Yes, it's about the only time I'm a minimalist.

"How do you do it?" is a question I get asked all the time. So here are a few of my tips...

#1 Plan your outfits very strategically. Don't think you have to pack every new piece of clothing in your wardrobe.

#2 Wear your bottoms more than once, and re-use jackets and sweaters if possible.

#3 Try to only take 2 pair of shoes/boots. I know some of you are freaking out right now. I took 3 on this trip simply because I had extra room.

#4 Take at least one or two scarves that will go with everything. I also do this in the summer as I tend to get cold on the airplane.

#5 Take or wear accessories that will go with most of your outfits.

I take pictures of all my outfits as I prepare them so there is never a question why I brought something. And I just don't have to do any extra thinking in the morning, which is always a plus for me.

Now for the actual packing...

I fold and roll everything (like little sausages), put them into Travel Space Bags, squeezing the air out which will give you 2 - 3 times the amount of space in your suitcase. I never travel without them. I pack my extra shoes in a cheap cloth bag; to keep them from getting scratched, etc... I have travel sizes of all my liquids and simply refill them as needed. I put all these in a clear bag, which I pack in my purse so I don't have to dig it out of my carry-on when going through security.

dots on my legs...

With a show of hands; who likes patterned tights and who thinks they are for little girls only?

Well obviously I don't think they are just for girls but think it can make an outfit fun and creative. Keep the top half neutral and let it be about the tights.

If you like a certain style be bold, don't worry about what people think, wear it with confidence and have a marvelous day!

polka dots, pencil skirt, and ankle boots

Polka dots, color, and ankle boots; all the things that make me happy in an outfit. Like I said on this post nude colored ankle boots are leg lengthening and perfect for wearing with bare legs in the Fall.

polka dot peplum

Love a peplum? Hate a peplum?

I'm kind of indifferent to them, really. Honestly, I'm wearing it because it's a trend, and I love the polka dots. I kind of felt like a fairy floating around while working at Bfearless all day. Since it has more volume to it I chose super skinny jeans to give it balance. Pairing it with my cheetah print Crocs let me move and work extra fast.

polka dots and ankle boots for Fall

I have enjoyed wearing ankle boots with bare legs for Fall. I chose a nude/caramel colored boot as these will still be leg lengthening since it's close to my skin color. And believe me I need all the length I can get.

When doing colored/dark ankle boots with bare legs it will be to your advantage to keep them a bit shorter than these. More like Gail's boots in this post. Unless of course you have super long legs then wear whatever boots you want.

dots and cheetah

Funny thing about this tunic...I had bought this quite a few years ago, wore it a few times and passed it on to one of my friends. This summer I purchased it back from her at my own garage sale. That's rotation at it's finest.

Isn't it funny how things can look new if you don't see them for awhile. It makes me think maybe I should store half of my wardrobe and then simply switch it out with the other half when I want something new. You know, like we do with our kids' toys when they are young and don't know the difference.
