Jacket to Vest DIY

I have been wanting a white denim vest for awhile since I wear my regular denim one all the time.
Going through my closet I found this white denim jacket I had not worn for awhile. Well...I started thinking... and after trying it on and making sure it was the length I wanted for a vest I got busy...

I simply cut the sleeves off as close as I could to the seam and then put a few hand stitches around the lower half of the arm hole to tack the seam in place.
After about 15 minutes I had my new white denim vest, and I can't wait to wear it.

Sometimes we simply need to shop our own closets in order to see our clothes in a new light.
Happy closet shopping and DIYing! Is that a word?

Chunky Pearl Necklace...How to make your own

For those of you who have been asking how I made this necklace, here are your directions.

I made this necklace for a client using her old pearls and gold chains.
I started with 3 old pearl necklaces (that I re-strung on elastic thread) and 2 gold chains.
Lay them out and center all peices.
Tie a knot in the center using all peices.
Continue doing so on both sides of of your center knot...
...until most of your pearls have been used up. Don't get frustrated while knotting all pieces together. There was a few times I had to re-do it.
To "finish" the ends of your pearls; lace and knot the chain through the pearls until you like the final effect. Remember, it's not about having a "perfect" piece but rather a creative one.
Ta-Da! Your new necklace!
Have fun and enjoy!

Tube Top DIY

I did this DIY out of simple frustation of wanting some coverage without always wearing a camisole. Also, due to not being able to find a tube top that stays up without squeezing the daylights out of my "girls".

I thoroughly don't like this "camisole under a spaghetti strap dress" look.

Start with a plain, well fitting camisole.

Try it on upside down and make a mark as to how long you want it. I kept mine about 2" below my chest.

Use a ruler or tape measure and mark from the bottom up the same length as your original mark.

Cut along your marked line.

Make your cut all the way through. Now you have a tube top! Wear the hem side at the top. You can still use the actual top as a shorter camisole.

This makes for some coverage in the front without all the extra straps, and the "hey, I'm wearing a camisole" look.

Now you have a camisole free back while still having coverage in the front.

 Good Luck and Happy Weekend!
