Professional Wilma

Wilma hates pink, yet oddly enough had this bright pink top in her closet and wanted me to incorporate it into an outfit so she would start wearing it. Simple; start with basic black pants and the denim jacket she loves, add some cheetah print and bling and it's a love! She will wear this to work feeling confident, looking sassy, and be totally appropriate.

I still want to steal that amazing bracelet (necklace) off of her!

Because of the time I have spent with Rhoda I now spend less time thinking about how I look and more time thinking about how I can be there for others, which is my passion.

How much is too much?! I guess that depends on what you love. This day, as every other day, I love accessories and seemingly can't ever have enough.

The Wilma I know

I think this outfit is a perfect reflection of Wilma's personality. Bright, fun, and gets noticed!

When I first bought this cardigan for Wilma she hated it, but wore it because she trusts me. Smile. We have come to the conclusion she hated it because it was paired with a print, for a professional occasion. So of course I had to get her to love it. Pairing it with some of the great brights in her closet made her look at it and say, "Now I love it!" Mission accomplished! (you will see it again later in the week)

I want to point out her amazing gold bracelet! It's actually a necklace she bought in the eighties! Gasp!!! We simply looped it around her wrist twice, fastened it, and presto, the perfect bracelet. I wanted to sneak it home with me since I have been looking for something similar and have yet to find one with a  price tag that still let's me eat the next week. I guess it goes to show sometimes it a good thing to hang onto things for a few decades. Did I just say that?!

Rhoda certainly had a challenge with me.  I am a very busy wife, mother, pastor, clinical counselor and student.  As a wife and mother I love comfort.  As a pastor I need a diverse wardrobe and making a good first impression is always important to me.  As a counselor I need a very conservative wardrobe.  As a student and when I am hanging out with friends I want sequins and animal prints, the more the better.

Graffiti and Rebellion

I am just outright rebelling against the rule of NO WHITE AFTER LABOR DAY! I think rules are meant to be broken (ok, not all of them), plus I was in the mood for white, and I love wearing this jacket. I think I need to replace it with the red one for Fall and Winter. I have been drooling over it for awhile. We shall see. So tell me, are you breaking rules and wearing white after Labor Day?

Preppy neon and pearls

Preppy is definitely not me but for some reason I loved this plaid shirt. A sporty dresser (like my friend Jen, who also has the same shirt) will wear this shirt with jeans and flats. I on the other hand prefer to girly it up and make it a bit more dramatic. So the question is...which way is right? Both! It's simply about taking an article of clothing and making it your own. When you get dressed ask yourself the question...Does this look like me and do I feel pretty? If you feel good in what you are wearing it doesn't matter whether your best friend or sister likes it, it matters whether it's a reflection of you!

Go forth and be the best you! Because nobody can ever be a better you!

Stripes with a bit of cheetah

Well I've been on a stripe kick lately, and now I've added a bit of cheetah. Animal prints are big again for Fall. I love it in a shoe (I got these at Express the other day with a rewards card for $0!), but everytime I think I want a cheetah print top all I think of is Peg Bundy (Married with Children) in all of her cheetah print glory and can't do it. (Yep, you can guess how old I am) Maybe I will get over that and have a cheetah print top before Spring, or not.
